Our FAQs aim to help answer any questions you have about our professional car and van hire services. If you need any further information, please contact our friendly team.
As well as the full driver’s licence, the main driver must produce two forms of identification, i.e. passport, utility bill. Utility bills must be less than three months old. At least one of these two forms must confirm the hirer’s national insurance number and home address, which should match the address on the driver’s licence.
Payment is only accepted by major credit or debit cards (card payment by third parties is only accepted by prior arrangement) in the hirer’s name.
Driving Licences & History:
All drivers must have held their driving licence for more than 24 months. Minor licence endorsements up to six points are accepted. Major endorsements, i.e. UT, DD, DR & IN, are subject to insurance clearance and the hire location would need to be informed before reservation is placed. Drivers aged between 21 and 25 years old and must be free of major endorsements. (For full clarification, please contact your chosen depot.)
Yes. We cannot provide insurance cover for anyone younger than 21 or over the age of 75. We apply a £10 per day charge for any any drivers aged between 21 and 25 years.
Licence restrictions apply for drivers under 25 years of age. Please contact your chosen depot for clarification.
You need to have held your driving licence for 24 months or more.
If you aged between 21 and 25, you must have a clean driving licence and pay a young driver surcharge. Those over 25 can have a maximum of six penalty points for minor endorsements.
All Bayfield Vehicle Hire depots are open seven days a week. We also offer out-of-hours return. For further information, please contact your chosen depot.
We are currently unable to provide a collection/delivery service. All depots are conveniently located near mainline railway stations
No. We do not ask for any deposits on short term rentals.
Deposits will apply for 28+ day bookings, so please speak with your chosen depot.
Payment must be in the hirer’s name on a valid credit or debit card. No other form of payment is accepted. Please note that Bayfield Vehicle Hire does not accept American Express cards.
- Driver’s Licence
- 1 x proof of address dated within the last 3 months (bank statement, utility bill, tenancy agreement, Benefits Agency statement or similar)
- 1 x recent payslip, P60 or Benefits Agency statement showing your National Insurance Number
- valid credit or debit card in the name of the driver
We will then perform a simple online check of your Driving Record when you come in to collect your vehicle. This may take a few minutes and we appreciate your patience.
You are able to visit https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence no earlier than 72 hours (three days) before your proposed collection date / time and create a share your driver’s licence unique code that you can email to us in advance of your collection.
Multiple drivers can be included on the rental agreement. A £5 per driver charge is added to cover the additional insurance.
No. We generally provide vehicles with 1/4 tank of fuel. We then ask that you return the vehicle with the same level of fuel that it leaves the depot with.
Any short term rental has unlimited mileage restrictions. Mileage restrictions are in place for any 28+ day booking. Please contact your chosen depot for further details.
Yes. For an additional charge, our vehicles can be taken out of the UK and insurance can be arranged for most European countries. All European hire must be pre-booked as supplementary insurance and breakdown cover needs to be arranged. Please visit our European Vehicle Hire page for further information.
Yes. All our vehicles have 24-hour AA or RAC breakdown cover.
Our standard insurance excess is £1,000. This is the customer’s maximum liability should the vehicle be damaged. Customers can reduce their excess to £500 by taking out our Excess Protection insurance. Please enquire for pricing.
