Bayfield Vehicle Hire in the Shropshire community
11 Sep 2017
Usually our blogs are all about vehicle hire, whether that's van hire in Telford or car hire in Shrewsbury. We cover the latest news, or offer top tips and advice we’ve acquired over years working with vehicle rental. Today, we’re talking about something a little different, but equally important: our role as a business in the Shropshire community.   Being a Shropshire company doesn’t just describe where we are, but who we are. It doesn’t make much sense to us to set up business in our home county without giving something back. You simply need to scroll through our social media feeds to see countless smiling faces and great organisations who we’ve helped. And we’re always looking for more opportunities to get involved with…

Local events

Shropshire plays host to dozens of huge community events throughout the year. Our van hire teams in Telford and Shrewsbury love to support local events. Not only do they help to maintain the thriving culture, but they encourage others to visit and invest into the economy and tourist industry. Take Shrewsbury Fake Festival and Shrewsbury Folk Festival. Between them the two festivals cater to a huge range of musical tastes. In August, they drew crowds of thousands into the town from across the UK!  We were only too glad we could help the organisers with discounted van hire. In return, the Shrewsbury team got some free tickets and the opportunity to place our banners around the festival grounds.

Doing our bit for charity

Whether it’s a bake sale for Comic Relief, or running an Easter raffle for the Midlands Air Ambulance, we love raising money for charity. It helps if we can get a bit silly with costumes or video challenges along the way…  Of course, those are both examples of fairly large charities. But smaller charities need our help too! Earlier this year Bayfield Vehicle Hire Shrewsbury helped Shropshire Cat Rescue, arranging discounted van hire for when they needed it most. SCR is a wonderful Shrewsbury-based charity which works to re-home unwanted cats and kittens across the county. They also encourage responsible pet ownership by offering advice on neutering, vaccinating and microchipping. As a well-established vehicle hire business, we have the ability to reach out to a large audience and ask for their help in donating much-needed funds for charitable organisations.

Sports teams

If you know us at all, it’ll be no surprise that we are keen sponsors of local sports clubs. As well as it being a good idea to encourage sport in the community, we just love to watch!  This summer Bayfield Vehicle Hire Telford sponsored the match ball for Madeley Cricket Club. I myself attended many a match to present the ball – as well as thoroughly enjoying the games.  The Shrewsbury office takes great pride in supporting Church Stretton Town Football Club. If you’ve ever attended a match at their home ground you may have spotted our purple board adorning the pitch.

Giving back to the community

Bayfield is always looking for new ways to support our community. Jason is a long-serving member of Severn Business Network, a group which helps and supports local businesses to share ideas, introduce new contacts and build business relationships.  I recently met with Telford & Wrekin Councillor Lee Carter, member for Finance, Partnerships and Commercial Services, to discuss Bayfield’s role in the community. As part of the Telford & Wrekin Community Sponsorship Scheme, Bayfield Vehicle Hire Telford is pleased to sponsor the roundabout at Halesfield. The council offers three sponsorship opportunities: roundabouts, boundary signs and website advertising. Of course, the sign ensures people can find our depot easily. Crucially, it means our sponsorship money goes right back into the community.   We welcome working with Shropshire charities and organisations. If you are a charity or event organiser who would benefit from discounted van hire in Telford or Shrewsbury, or are a local sports club interested in sponsorship opportunities, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Call the Shrewsbury team on 01743 770035, or the Telford team on 01952 570057.
